The area is mostly residential and once the summer tourists leave, its quite dead. In fact, my apartment is across the street from the admiral. If you want to be on the Lake (and have a nice plane watching vantage from Billy Bishop Airport), it's a nice area. If you want to be close to the bars/clubs, there are many better options: Intercontinental on Front Street, Hilton Garden in John, or the Hilton/Sheraton on University Ave.
