As many have said, an interesting piece of analysis, and one I agree with. It is even more clear to a SEN rather than an HON.
This year I have flown with LH, LX, EK and SQ on long haul, and LH is by far the worst in terms of :
- seat - LH sloping biz seats are awful (but watch EK whose fleet varies a lot)
- connections - DXB is busy, but better than FRA (ZRH is great, and SIN pretty good too)
- IFE - don't use it much but EK wins hands down
- food - EK, LX and SQ all better than LH
- timings - EK has so many flights from the UK it must win for anything heading East (my usual destinations are Asia, Australia, North America and Latin America) so EK is difficult for the latter 2
- FFP - M&M works well enough for me as a SEN and gives me choice compared to Skywards
- lounges - the outstation longes for EK are pretty good, but DXB is like a zoo at busy times - worse than FRA even! (although the old F lounge that is currently used for C in the old terminal is pretty good)
So overall it does not make good reading for LH, and I wonder when that effect will start to trickle down to LX?
