Very good advice, since once you do change a drive letter assignment it isn't such a trivial thing to change it back. In most cases it's not an issue, as long as you don't mess with C: or, if you do, you don't plan on putting the drive back in anything else. In one case, for example, I changed D: to something else (D: being my programs drive) and had a bit of trouble when going back to the old machine which now couldn't find any installed software. Thankfully, in that case it was easy to go back in and change it back (in the old machine).
But in terms of the OP's problem, I don't suspect that's going to be a danger.
