Interestingly, AA offers quite a different catering experience in their 2-class J (752/763) compared to their 3-class J (772). Common wisdom was that after they removed F from the 763s (before the 752s did international) they kept a higher quality service on those birds/routes that no longer offered F. The service was very similar to CO's BF service, minus the separate and "elaborate" cheese course. They had full-size wine glasses as well, which is what they offered in their 3-class F. But AA 3-class J on their 772 remained well below that standard, with tiny appetizer/salad served together, main courses from the cart in casserole dishes, and pre-scooped ice cream (not a make-your-own sundae).
Perhaps the real reason they kept it this way was the more limited J galley space on the 772.
