Ask for a written statement explaining why they are refusing to allow you to board and take your seat. If they cannot, or will not, provide such written evidence, then demand to be allowed to board on the basis that they have no reason for denying you your seat. Also, do not surrender your boarding pass! (If you check in online, make sure to also send an email copy to yourself, and/or to print out more than one copy to carry with you. If you obtain it at the airport, go back [to another agent/customer support desk/self-service kiosk/whatever] and ask for a reprint, stating that you have misplaced/lost your boarding card if necessary).
