Not exactly. With the companion fare, Mr/Ms Companion
must travel with the full fare pax. With a "normal 2-person itinerary" if something happens to pax 2, i.e., enroute, and has to change the return date, the PNR can be split, and the ticket value could be applied to the new return (subject to whatever the fare rules of that ticket might be).
