The upgrade for Golds can happen
as early as 48 hours in advance, not necessarily 48 hours in advance. They may not upgrade Golds until the day before the flight or the day of the flight. All depends what is released for upgrades and when. If you haven't been upgraded, it means seats have not yet been allocated for Gold upgrades at your fare class. There's a also chance Plats have not been upgraded yet...
