Thanks people, I got the refund cheque sent to me in Japan after going through the paperwork in Toronto.

I am back in Canada again at the moment. I will be leaving Montreal for my flight back to Japan via YYZ. Do I visit Canada Customs in YUL before I check-in again? Are my bags checked through to Narita from YUL or do I have to pick them up in YYZ?

This said - what happens to visitors who fly from a smaller airport with direct international connections (Sarnia - YYZ - NRT)? How do they get their receipts validated if their luggage has been checked through to final destination?
