But when checking in we say that's am a UM and they take me to/from the plane, through DXB, etc. so they do know I'm a UM, yet don't assign me to 1A

Also, why is there the weird rule that a UM has to sit next to a female passenger. We are strictly not allowed to sit next to males when flying alone. Why is this ?
