Am I the only person who feels like the old cloth seats were alot more comfortable than the rigid leather ones currently masquerading as "First Class" seats? To be sure, the older cloth upholstered seats were probably heavier, but from a comfort standpoint, I have fond memories dating back to 1976 of those cloth seats whereas I have zero fond memories of the leather things.
I don't remember the days of cloth up front, but I will say the leather they used on the pillowy seats of the -400s (and early -900s) seems to be a better quality leather (almost real) versus the pleather used on the -700s and -800s. That stuff doesn't breathe at all, which makes for pleasant sensations when it's hot.
