To be sure, the older cloth upholstered seats were probably heavier, but from a comfort standpoint, I have fond memories dating back to 1976 of those cloth seats whereas I have zero fond memories of the leather things.
My only memories of AS cloth seats extends to those of coach... which were happy memories as I was going on a fun trip when I was much younger (and smaller) and they even served us complimentary food
