I am sure there are other threads out here that probably visited the same issue before but unfortunately I could not find anything that seems to be clear & concise. So here is my situation:
1. I am traveling to Hyderabad from Boston via Mumbai in November:
a. Delta is operating my flight from Boston to Amsterdam and again from Amsterdam to Mumbai. (1X23kg & 1X7kg & Laptop) It will cost me $60/$75 for additional baggage. (Confirmation # XXXXX (Let's say))
b. Jet Airways is the carrier from Mumbai to Hyderabad. (Confirmation # YYYYY (Let's say)). There is a 5 hour 50 minutes layover in between.
2. I am traveling to Boston from Hyderbad via Mumbai in December:
a. Air India is the carrier from Hyderabad to Mumbai. (Confirmation # ZZZZZ (Let's say)). There is a 2 hour 40 minutes layover in between.
b. Delta is operating my flight from Mumbai to Amsterdam and again from Amsterdam to Boston. (1X23kg & 1x7kg & Laptop) It will cost me $60/$75 for additional baggage. (Confirmation # XXXXX (Let's Say))
So as you can see I have same PNR for the international leg of my journey (XXXXX) and two different PNR's (YYYYY/ZZZZZ) for the connecting travel within India.
Here are my questions and I would greatly appreciate any help:
1. Would I have to pay any extra baggage fee to Jet Airways (different PNR) for Mumbai to Hyderabad? How much could this be? From this link --->

it looked like I don't have to but somehow I wanted to confirm since the other threads are very vague..
2. Do I have to collect my luggage in Mumbai and pass through customs check here or will I receive the luggage in Hyderabad and so the customs check is there? Any idea?
3. Do I have to pay any extra baggage fee to Indian Airways (different PNR) for Hyderabad to Mumbai? How much could this be? I heard Indian Airways usually considers similar cases are international connections and so would waive baggage fee... Is this true?
4. Will I have to collect my luggage in Mumbai or can I just check it in all the way to Boston? How much time could it take to receive luggage in Mumbai if there is no other option?
5. I have only 2 hours and 40 minutes time gap between my flights in Mumbai. Do you think this would be sufficient? I apologize in advance if this seems like a silly question but I've never been to the Mumbai airport. What about check-in times etc.? Would I possibly face any problems??
6. I heard that there is at least 30 min travel to the international airport in Mumbai. I heard that there are shuttles that can do it in 10 min but that these could be highly unpredictable... Is this true? I also heard that there are cab/taxi drivers who barge in and snatch your luggage in the hopes of having you ride the taxi... Is this true? How should I safely navigate these challenges to reach the international terminal on time? Suggestions welcome...
Other threads mentioned something like "same ticket" baggage will be free etc. I am not sure if I understand this correctly... Because I booked this through a travel agency website, the entire trip itinerary is under the same booking code. My initial booking said "JetKonnect" between Mumbai-Hyderabad.
But I received an email from the travel agency customer service that the schedule was changed by the carrier. It now shows as "Jet Airways" between Mumbai-Hyderabad.
I will be traveling for wedding, so there is no question of taking only one checked-in luggage due to clothes/apparel etc.... Help greatly appreciated. I am loving this website already due to the information... Thank you
