I now always travel with a portable router. It doesn't take up that much space and has allowed my husband and I to connect 4 or 5 devices.

There's a fairly long thread in travel tech about the various models available. Mine is a few years old and I'm sure there's something out there that may work even better. I'm perfectly satisfied with the one I have (it's an Asus, I think).
