I would not do this unless you are happy to pay the appropriate change fees; do not expect just to be changed to a LHR flight for no charge ( unless the fare has no change fees ) otherwise you could waste time at Heathrow getting flights changed and then , if not prepared to pay the fees, have lost time to get to Gatwick
