Thanks for all the replies. They were very helpful! In the end, I did not accept the hotel voucher, reserved a room at my preferrred hotel, got the hotel points and Delta reimbursed me for the room (except r $9 or so) so in the end I feel whole and am certainly not going to quibble about $9 bucks. THey gave me a travel voucher for $50 as well and that seemed reasonable to me. It certainly means I'll have to spend more $ to use the voucher but it's not like I'm not gonna be flying anymore so it's all good. Thanks again for replies.
