Today in BILD (the most popular German tabloid) an article about the absurd taxes on mileage tickets:
http://www.bild.de/reise/fluege/bonu...6608.bild.html
(only in German)
The article compares intra-Germany and European award tickets with the standard price and comes to the conclusion that it is better not to use miles, and calls this "absurd".
For longhaul flights, it compares the connection Frankfurt-New York and comes to the conclusion that one needs to fly 11 times return to New York to get a price reduction of 144 euros.
Both Miles&More and Air Berlin are criticized.
Interesting is the fact that BILD mentions the intra-european award ticket specials of British Airways (miles + fixed amount of 27 eur in Y, 34 eur in C) and recommends the other airlines to rethink their mileage redemtion schemes.
Of course, for us nothing new, but BILD is read by a lot of customers that for sure do not know about this!
