I agree with your comments. Even when the T & C say they can close and keep points for any reason, I know of no other card company that would try and keep your points other than Chase that is. When people call the rep it probably says right next to the account-Closed tell customer to pound sand.
Citi kept cash back about two years back when they closed CR cards. I am talking about accounts with five figures in them. That hurt!
