We've not stayed in either, though we have stayed in many Holiday Inn hotels, and did stay at a Larkspur Landing hotel in Sacramento, which apparently had been a Candlewood Suites. Considering a hotel in Portland for 8 nights in early February. Total rate for the CD would be $696 for a 1 king studio suite, and for a 1-bedroom suite (only one that could gurantee a king bed vs. queen) at the Staybridge would be $998. Anyone have any firsthand experience, either at either of these particular hotels (if so, was there any noise form the airport?), or at hotels of these chains elsewhere? I did read the general descriptions at
http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/candlew...support/brands and understand the Candlewood Suites are more basic, but wonder just how basic. Looks like the Staybridge has happy hours, which sounds nice, but that by itself wouldn't be worth the difference in price. I'm leaning towards the Staybridge, as it's still less than Residence Inn and Homewood Suites in th area. Thanks.
