If you are using this for maps , guide books etc then I assume it is with you all the time ,

Get a 7 inch tablet , so much easier to carry around than the iPad , I would get one with a camera so I can get those quick shots ,

then decide if you need to be connected most of the time , if so pay the extra for the 3G model. WiFi is OK in the city but not when you are out .
