Here's something I have coming up in 2 months. All flights were booked on United.com:

HKG-SFO
Flight:UA862
Aircraft: Boeing 747-400
Fare Class: United Economy (S)

connect in SFO and then:

SFO-EWR
Flight: UA414
Aircraft: Boeing 757-200
Fare Class: United Economy (S)

Since it's 100% United, and based on the current info showing on Aeroplan.com, would I still be ok for earning status miles for 2013? I'll clear 50K by only about 3K, so I need every segment!

If not, I'll have to go back to United and rebook the ticket for a different fare class, thus incurring change fees.
