Eh, while there were multiple replies from the "Anything for security" crowd that saddened me too, there were equally as many (if not more) replies from the completely apathetic crowd. The problem is not necessarily the people that are willing to be strip searched and background checked just to fly, but the majority of people who just don't care whether they maintain their privacy or get a full body massage before boarding.
As much as I'm with the OP in his dislike of all forms of NOS/AIT/WBI and the "Well if it keeps us safe" crowd makes me shudder, I also can't necessarily condemn the crowd that says "meh... don't care," especially since, as the situation gets worse, they are most likely to be the ones that come to agree that the TSA is largely doing the public a disservice.
To be clear, the "anything for security" posts were sad (and/or pathetic) indeed, but in general, this issue isn't binary.
