The mileage program is already a revenue-based program. As prices of airline tickets have increased so has the cost of each mile earned from flying. Also, higher revenue fare codes earn more miles. Also, the miles sold to partner companies have a revenue associated with them.
What this talk of "revenue-based" program is is talk of yet another major devaluation of points already earned. Just a much, much bigger hit than usual. All to enrich airline management at the expense of consumers and probably long-term shareholders too.
