One big flaw in the assumptions in that article... he states that the change may be good for those genuine live their lives on the road people. Guess what, many of those people book through their corporate travel agency and also along with that get substantial corp discounts, thereby diluting their points and status accrual. Also, many of those travelers also have corp cards that bill to the company and they don't see any miles/points from spend.
Finally, those who spend a lot on high prices intl BE tickets will likely just be in the same place they are today. They pay to sit up front and so won't see any difference... except that when they want to use those points, surprise! That J award ticket suddenly costs 450k points instead of 200k miles.
