Believe it or not, after being in AAdvantage for 12 years I've never redeemed miles for a flight. I'm thinking of doing this for the first time, to go SFO-HKG.

But wait! AA metal doesn't fly to HKG!

Am I reading this right in that it would only be 35K miles each way for me to use miles to get on a Cathay flight? Is it that simple?

(I wish there were a way to do this online!)
