Yes, I was thinking about that; I thought my comment about a "lock-off" room made that clear. It's admittedly a bit unfair to compare the Wailea, which I know (and knew) is "only" a hotel, to an MVCI resort but I just thought I'd ask. I was hoping for a microwave, and even more for a blender for drinks but no such luck.

We did decide to take the deal, and are here now. We were upgraded from a resort view room to an ocean view room (although not the greatest ocean view, it's to the side, not full on front view), but not a suite, and we did not pay a fee. We were told they only give a "1-category" upgrade, which I believe is now in the T&C's. My perception is that the hotel is not packed (I see a lot of dark rooms at night), but I can't be sure, nor do I have any idea how many suites might be open right now. Good luck.
