I've also had very good experiences with Agoda. FWIW, it is up to the hotels to inform Agoda when a category of rooms is fully booked, and occasionally a hotel might forget to do it. It happened once to me, but it worked out well as we wound up with a suite for the price of a deluxe room.
One time we needed two rooms and only 1 room was available at the special rate, one available at the 'regular' rate. After purchasing the special rate the other room disappeared. I called Agoda and, while on hold listening to Bob Marley 'I don't want no waiting game for your love', they called the hotel who released another room.
To me that is quality CS.
