Do they require this? I would rather just acquire the ticket myself. Chinese universities are likely to give you a fixed amount (of cash) for the ticket. Try to get the money early, so that you don't convert dollars to yuan at the start of your trip, only to be stuck with lots and lots of yuan at the end.
