Help me figure out why MSP-NRT isn't showing bookable

It looks like I'll be going to China some time in March, my second trip over there in the past year. I live in Minneapolis and no matter what will be doing a two-stop trip (final destination is a "small" city in southern China.

Last time, I took the DTW-PVG flight over, NRT-MSP on the return. This time, I'd like to fly both directions via Narita, because the flight is a little shorter and, most importantly on the return, I love being able to walk right out of the terminal after a long international flight. I can connect in HKG, PVG or PEK.

Problem is, no matter how I construct a search, including segment by segment to any of the three Chinese gateways, using the Delta site or using ITA Matrix or even Orbitz, it won't give me an option for that route out of Minneapolis, no matter the price. I'd be looking at flying on either 3/22 or 3/23.

Here's one example of what it's suggesting:

Any thoughts? The flight _is_ listed as active that day. And I can get it to display if I search for just an MSP-NRT flight. But whenever I add an onward connection from NRT, it wants me to fly through SEA, SFO, ATL or JFK.

I'm a pretty skilled travel booker, so I'm befuddled. Help!
