Well there are two types of issues with FFs programs. RDMs, or redemptions, and EQMs, or earning miles towards status. Now if the airlines make redemptions more difficult or less attractive that may have nothing to do with the ability to earn EQMs. IHowever, if the legacy carriers begin to change status based money spent or fare code over miles flown (as the primary way to earn status) then FT will light up like you can't imagine.
