Leaving things at Crillon in Paris

A number of years ago I was staying at the Crillon in Paris for over a week. When I left I was quite sick with the flu and had to leave quite early in the morning. I was there long enough that I had completely unpacked and had things in drawers and all over. In my foggy haste ( sick with flu and very tired from working crazy hours) I left a few things things in the drawers. I arrived home in San Francisco to a Message on my answering machine from the Crillon( yes, those were the days of answering machines) stating what I had left in the hotel ( i had not yet realized!)and asking me if their address on file was the right address for federal express! I called them back anfpd had the missing items in a matter of days. I will never forget this great service and to this day through rennovation, closure, etc. the Crillon is one of my favorite city hotels. The items left were things that would have been quite attractive to conviently not find btw! On the other hand I have also left various cables and bits and pieces of clothes in other hotels - also luxury category - never to recover! Just a story I thought I would share. Btw, I did write a note to the GM of the Crillon commending his staff on the great service.
