Not a lux hotel but the better half left her Teddy bear at a run of the mill hotel in Nashville once and they held it for a week until we came back through town. I left my iPad (this one) in a hotel safe in Koh Samui and they delivered it to me at the airport, no charge within the hour. I'm not sure I'd have the same luck in a large 5 star...
