Look, I criticize the TSA as much as anyone. But I gotta call "foul" on this one.
I believe that virtually all TSA employees
believe that they are serving the Republic to which we pledge our allegiance, and that they are serving the causes of liberty and justice in their work. We may (and do) question whether or not their
actions live up to that ideal. But that's not the same thing.
Questioning the patriotism of TSA employees is unlikely to result in any sort of constructive change. We would be far better served by acknowledging --- nay, celebrating! --- their patriotism, and then using that patriotism as a basis for starting a dialog on how one ought to protect the Constitutional rights of the citizens of this great Republic.
But I suspect I will persuade no-one on this topic, and this will be my last remark on this topic.
