Incident: Air Canada E190 near New York on Oct 3rd 2012, loss of cabin pressure
An Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190, registration C-FHKS performing flight AC-709 from New York La Guardia,NY (USA) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 65 people on board, was climbing through FL290 out of New York when the crew received a "Bleed 2 Leak" indication, turned the right hand bleed off. The cabin pressure began to slowly drop prompting the crew to descend the aircraft to 10,000 feet (average rate of descent 3000 fpm). The aircraft continued to Toronto for a safe landing about 50 minutes later.
The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft had been dispatched under minimum equipment list requirements with the #1 bleed valve inoperative. After landing maintenance tightened a fan air clamp and replaced the #1 high pressure shutoff valve.
