Are the Falklands in Europe? Was Hong Kong before 1999?
Declaring islands as part of any continent is going to be troublesome, as different people will have different definitions. Some islands are going to be a no-brainer, such as Great Britain being in Europe. But how about Greenland? Geographically it is closer to NA than to continental Europe. In this very thread two people used Greenland to represent both NA and EU. Most of the Caribbean is going to be a problem if trying to assign them to NA or SA. Bermuda? Midway Island? Mauritius? These are all troublesome.

It would be so much easier if we could settle on flights between continental landmasses. No questions there (I hope).

ABD-ATH is 176 miles. That's clearly Europe to Asia.
I suppose you mean ADB, Izmir. Who flies there from ATH?
