The original poster never gives details on the time changes nor the impact it has made. If I have ever had time changes I have ALWAYS been delighted with the outcome as they ALWAYS work with you. So many times I have gotten better routings, better times and better planes. If the scheduling is say an hour later and you tell them that you have a problem as now the plane arrives in ORD at noon and your meeting in downtown Chicago where you are making a presentation starts at 1pm so it will be impossible to be sure to get there on time, then they will put you on an earlier flight or the night before or whatever. Of course you have to use a little charm and not shout at people and they will help you. IMHO this thread has gotten out of hand based on zero facts. And none of the negative comments accord with any experience I have ever had except when I have seen people with absolutely no status swearing at gate agents when it is hailing 1" lumps of ice outside and you just know it will be hours while they check the planes to make sure they are not going to fall out of the sky. Just my opinion.
My guess (thats all it is) is that the OPs change was very minor but for whatever reason the OP no longer wanted to fly , thats why they never came back to tell us what the change was exactly.
People read on FT when folks tell someone who wants to know how to get out of a non-refundable tkt they no longer want to use , to simply wait for a change in flights and then ask for a Refund. But that wont happen if the new time is now say 20 mins later or earlier
have you ever called and asked for a full refund of a non-refundable tkt, since the new small change in time wont allow you to get Downtown in enough time. Kinda think they be laughing that you chose a flight that got in @ 11:40am and now that its getting in @ Noon you want a Refund cause you wont make your meeting. Change flights to a much earlier or the night before yea theyd work with you, but the OP wanted a Full Refund and thats why they were told to go pound sand, had it been a few hrs later or earlier then they would have probably done it, but not over a few mins change
