People's Experience Earning Aeroplan Miles with CIBC Visa Infinite Aerogold card?
I just received this card. I will try it out for a year, with the first year annual fee waived.
The package brochure and the web site state that one can get 1.5 Aeroplan miles/dollar spent at gas stations, pharmacies, and supermarkets/grocery stores. Then the web site/package lists the retail establishments where one can get 1.5 Aeroplan miles/dollar spent.
The question, which the customer service agent could not be sure - are the following:
a) if a credit card at a retail establishment fitting one of the 3 category types is used, but the establishment is not on the list, can one get the 1.5 Aeroplan miles/dollar spent, or not. In particular, I was asking about FreshCo - a subsidiary of Sobey's.
b) the second question was whether the increased
point earning ability in these 3 categories of establishments is valid in Canada only (unless on the list such as ExxonMobil), or all other countries.
One notable analogy is the Gold AMEX rewards card - the 2 Aeroplan miles/dollar spent is limited to Canadian based establishments (for gas stations, drug stores, and grocery stores) - but its 2 Aeroplan miles/dollar spent earning ability is valid for any travel related purchases anywhere around the world.
