A little tip from someone who had travelled both solo and with partner: when travelling with partner, you can mind each other's carry-on luggage when using lavatories before boarding and during layovers. So dont have too much carry-on, it is a hassle to cram it all into the cubicle when you dont have anyone to watch it for you.
