The Venture has had great 100,000 "mile" signup bonuses in the past, but as pointed out above they aren't really miles. It isn't a bad card and offers a fixed value (straight two percent back when redeemed for travel purchases) but the Explorer potentially offers a better value when redeeming for international tickets in premium cabins.
The flexibility to redeem for baggage fees, an upgrade, a train ticket, etc. is nice and the Venture also doesn't have a currency conversion fee, but I will say I wasn't using the Venture much until doing some extensive overseas travel this year. I am personally looking at getting some combination of Chase Ultimate Rewards cards because of the higher earning potential and the ability to use UR points for statement credits or convert to MileagePlus miles or a few other rewards programs.
