I'm a newbie on here so please go easy on me. I love to travel and am on here to boost my skills. I've been pouring over the forums and searching the web and find myself a bit overwhelmed with all the information.

I'm looking to get 6,000 UA PQM (or 16 segments) before November 5, 2012. Why? I want to earn premier status before my next work trip.

I've read about mileage runs, which sound awesome, and would like to start developing the ability to do them. MRs appeal both for the status and for the travel itself. If there are other ways to earn the PQMs/segments I'd like to learn more too.

I live in los angeles and can easily fly out of LAX, BUR, LGB or SNA. I've been around the US and EU. I'm open to more of that but especially would like to get to new continents and countries.

I've got a united mileageplus card and 19K UA miles this year so far.

Anyone willing to hold a newbie's hand (they're very soft hands and generally appealing)?
