I've kept a running list in the 31 years since I started flying of the flights I've been on (date, airline, flight number, departure city, arrival city). I started doing this by hand, long before I transferred it all to a computer file. It's amazing how many of those airlines no longer exist. Lacsa, Aviateca, and Sahsa disappeared in the Taca consolidation in the 90s. Now Taca and Aerogal will be gone.
We won't go into PanAm, TWA, Eastern, Northwest, Continental, Mexicana, Varig, Malev, Sabena, ...
Back to Avianca/Taca, I think the new branding is a good move too, even if Central Americans feel they're "losing out."
