I'll ignore where people live, that just complicates things!
So … we transited LGW yesterday, after a TATL into LHR. Our regular driver drops us off somewhere in one of the multi-storey car parks - he knows where to go. The barriers and posts are designed for Smart cars - he struggled with his Ford Mini-Van. Who designs these things? From there, its just a 200 yard walk or so up a slight incline to the front of the Departures area. Slightly better than the stupid walkway from the ground level drop-off area, followed by a lift journey to the next level, especially when dragging 4 cases.
Overall, I cannot conceive how Joe Public can find his way around the maze that LGW has become.
However, having stumbled, jet-lagged, to the Club check-in area - we waited about 20 seconds before a very charming "Ms Clipboard" marched us over to another desk a few yards away [not too sure it wasn't 'Special Needs'

] to drop the bags. And then the charming lady on the desk did the tagging thing, and the belt wasn't working properly, but she kept us engaged for a couple of minutes until the problem was resolved. ^
Next - Premium Gatwick. OMG, a queue!! Oh, baby buggy family, followed by someone of my age who has never been through an airport since they flew piston-engined aircraft. Must have taken at least 5 minutes of my life. ^
