Exact same thing happened to me today. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor told me that on top of Iberia's fees, they now add a surcharge. I asked if it could be waived. The supervisor said that Iberia requires that money and that AA is in no position to pay it. I think even just a year back, we paid a flat 10% of the base fare for infants. I'd love to know what is going on here. It was very tough to get an answer from AA. Trying to talk to Iberia directly is usually a disaster for me... I don't try anymore.
