To elaborate a tiny bit on this, if you hold both the Chase Freedom and Sapphire Preferred cards, aren't working on meeting a spending requirement for a sign-up bonus, AND have a Chase checking account, you should split your spending up like so:

Sapphire Preferred:
All dining and travel purchases >$9.62

Freedom:
everything else!

That will maximize your point earning with the UR program when holding these two cards. Of course there are other considerations, such as purchase protection and customer service, but I leave that to you to figure out which you prefer. As far as points earning goes, the above is the optimal arrangement.
