As has been said, the miles must post first, which could take up to 48 hours in some cases. If you are at your destination for a few days, your status will have likely updated for the higher miles bonus to be in effect. If you have a quick turn around and the status hasn't changed for your return, you could likely call and get it adjusted, after the return flight has posted (incorrectly of course).
