Believe me, I'm not a Luddite and I'm reasonably technologically aware. But what is the problem with carrying a sheet (or two) of A4? Paper doesn't need batteries or an Internet connection, and isn't really very heavy. And ... it seems to work all the time, at least IME.

I have to agree. The term 'cart pieces of paper around' would be sort of justified if you had to packs reams of the stuff but it's just a boarding pass or two after all.
T, are you grumpier than normal because of your luggage?
