Your RPU, if it doesn't clear before you check in, puts you higher on the list than relying on a CPU. So if you end up clearing it will be because of the RPU. If you see a lot of F before your CPU window and you want to keep the RPU pull it before CPU sweeps start. You could even pull it after they start, but it sounds like in this case you didn't pull it.
