It should actually be possible to get a new baggage tag as confirmation of such conversation. No experience from BKK, I do this kind of things quite regularly in the transfer centre in CPH, whenever I need to change something about my check in, luggage, add a new segment, etc, they would always be careful to give me a new bag tag.
If the time is the limit, as OP is guessing, might actually be good idea to try correcting this with LH in FRA.
