Just a note from a recent convert to the smarter phone (i.e., not Blackberry) world. The IT Taxi app is great. Maybe I just have had good luck in Milan the last few days but the app has gotten me taxis incredibly quickly at different times of the day. It seems connected to a number of the taxi networks and works off your phone's GPS; all you do is click the app and enter (or confirm) the building number (it supplies the street name) and then it comes back right away with the taxi number that is heading your way along with the estimated time it will take.

I am now in Milan but it is supposed to work across Italy. The real test of course will be when there is a fair in town but so far it's been great.
