SIM card cutters are for sale all over eBay. How do we know they will only cut excess plastic and not critical information? For the critical info to be retained, SIM manufacturers would have had to plan to use only a small portion of the SIM that now fits within the Nano Sim footprint - and that portion would have had to be in the same area within the larger sim or micro sim for all manufacturers.

AFAIK all SIMs are the same as far as the grid that holds all the information. The difference is in the card that holds the grid.
