I use four square when travelling, as it is easier I often check in on my lap top using foursquare mobile. A little while ago the points stoped posting to IHG. Today I checked in from my andriod device, and he points have appeared.

So, it looks like they are stoppingpoints for check ins unless it is from a mobile device.
